This is an opensource project that allows for reading and writing exotic disk images to 3.5" or 5.25" floppy drives . For example, this device can read and write Amiga .adf files to 3.5" on a pc. This can be very useful if you need to create a bootdisk for an Amiga , Atari ST, or other floppy based machine using a standard PC floppy drive. This also works great for archiving installers which track the number of installs on the disk itself, for example the original Mac Protools floppies. A bootloader is installed which allows for simple future USB firmware upgrades. This version employs an STM32F7 @ 200MHZ which provides nearly 3x the compute power of the "BluePill" version and I believe this is the most powerful, and well designed flux floppy disk reader/write hardware available at any price. There is an onboard DC/DC converter which can optionally use a 12v wall wart if you need to power older 5.25" drives. This version is a fork of the original Greaseweazle F7 project with the following specific enhancements: The differences between this design and the original F7 are: PCB 80mm x 50mm, KryoFlux form factor. Added stronger buffers for driving 5.25" drives with higher current pull-up resistors. Integrated 5V switching regulator, so only a single 12V supply is required for drives needing both rails. Choice of full-size or micro USB connector. [full-size high-quality connector installed w/ this unit] USB ESD (electro-static discharge) protection. Connections for external LEDs, for use if fitting the board in an enclosure. Jumper link to select write protection by default. Jumper link to disconnect WR_GATE for physical hardware level write protection. All that's required is a 3.5" floppy drive , a floppy power cable which gets attached to the adapter board and a 34-pin standard floppy cable. I have thoroughly tested reading/writing floppies with this unit using an ALPS PC floppy drive. This drive did not require external power but I've read that some drives will, especially the older 5.25" units. The images which are created w/ this Greaseweazle adapter can be loaded into the free HxC Floppy Emulator software for analysis or conversion into various formats if required.
