Wow ... when this 4-CD Set was first released I distinctly remember just wanting to do some back-flips ! For me personally, I always thought this 1976 night at the Cap Centre was one of the truly exceptional '76 Tour performances by The Grateful Dead. My treasured ! analogs from this year had plenty of wear over the years, and I could not believe I was actually going to now own this one in a digitally re-mastered CD Set, much less as a Dick's Picks !!! Some of the Gratest ' Cover Art ' in the Dick's Picks Series too, in my humble Dead Fan opinion. This one just ' feels ' pretty Mid-Atlantic when you hold it ... I mean check-out the deciduous Trees, with the leaves a-fallin' ! A relatively rested & feisty band at this point ( post '74 hiatus ), and you can really tell they are picking up some serious steam heading into one of their absolute best years ever ( maybe even the best ? ) ... 1977. This Syracuse performance, is simply a continuation of this Cap Center Magic ! just three-days later -- Set II gets juicy with a rare & interesting " Orange Tango Jam " splitting Eyes & Dancin' right in the middle of a commanding Playing in the Band intro / outro sandwich. This set and DP # 25 definitely have a lot in common ... from the very simple perspective of two ( 2 ) Smokin'-Hot ! Mid/Late '70's G.D. Shows - just a few days apart ... in both cases ! I myself love this release tactic - as you can be the judge, while just sitting there in your Easy Chair ! Hey, but then again ... I myself pounded the gavel for 9/25/76 a long-long time ago - when I was just a little kid !! Tasty '76 G.D. ... really-tasty ! Enjoy this " Double " your Dead !!!
