Description: Printed in Canada, this is an original vintage poster produced by the Grand Trunk (Railroad) System, advertising travel by passenger train to Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, Vancouver, and other major Canadian cities and holiday locations. This poster pre-dates the formation of Canadian National Railway as the amalgamation of Canadian government-owned railroads, so the poster includes hotels built by Grand Trunk that later became part of the larger Crown Corporation. I am estimating the date that the poster was printed by the open automobiles visible and the fact that the larger photograph of a passenger train in the upper right appears to show wooden passenger cars. (Steel passenger cars were beginning to be manufactured begin in the very late 1910s and became much more common across North America by the late 1920s.) This poster has been folded twice, even though that may not be evident in the photograph. I have never had it framed and am coming to the realization that I have collected far too many railroad posters, calendars, timetables, and similar and am never going to be able to have them all matted and framed -- and I certainly do not have the wall space. This is a very fine black-and-white poster in very good, clean condition, with no tears. It was printed by The Montreal Standard Publishing Company, Limited, the published of one of the daily newspapers in Montreal at the time. What appears to be a stain of some kind in the upper left corner is actually an odd shadow created by the lighting. I am showing the poster here under glass and the glass picked up shadows in several places. (See new photo added that shows corner without glass or shadow.) Additional information for this listing: The dimensions are 18" x 23". I cannot make out what type of published material this was intended to be, whether it came from some sort of very large publication or what. It cannot be a fold-out from a book as it is much too large to be that. The paper stock is a moderately glossy coated stock. I will pay for the postage to continental US addresses. Postage to other countries will be based on the quote from the USPS, from the post office. Since this has already been folded twice, I will ship it that way, well packaged. I will be away for a work trip from July 16 towards the end of July, so I will not be able to ship during that period.
