Description: This is the Original (1sh) 1932 Lobby Card GRAND HOTEL. It was used by MGM to promote this movie when it was released in 1932. It is not a reprint nor a reproduction. The movie stars Greta Garbo, John Barrymore, Joan Crawford, Wallace Beery, Lionel Barrymore, Lewis Stone, Jean Hersholt, Robert McWade, Purnell Pratt, Ferdinand Gottschalk, Rafaela Ottiano, Morgan Wallace, Tully Marshall, Frank Conroy, Murray Kinnell, and Edwin Maxwell. It was directed by Edmund Goulding. This unrestored movie Lobby Card measures 11" x 14". It comes with an unattached stiff cardboard backing. This original movie Lobby Card is graded C7, Fine/Very Fine. Original movie Lobby Cards are graded as follows from the top down: C10 (Mint), C9 (Near Mint), C8 (Very Fine), C7 (Fine/Very Fine), C6 (Fine or Very Good), C5 (Good to Very Good), C4 (Good), etc. The Lobby Card has a very presentable appearance and could be framed and presented for display - as is - with excellent results. Proper framing could minimize the flaws that exist along the card's border, where most of the flaws are located. Restoration of the Lobby Card could definitely alleviate the border issues, minor spotting, and the pin holes. We believe that the cost of restoration would be exceeded by the increase of value in the Lobby Card, if it were to be restored. But restoration is not necessary to attain a striking display of this iconic movie. We believe that the original Lobby Card GRAND HOTEL has significant investment value. The normal One Sheet original movie poster of GRAND HOTEL has a (conservatively) estimated value of $50,000 (for a C8 Very Fine graded One Sheet) and that it, along with any other sized movie posters of GRAND HOTEL - including Lobby Cards - will continue to rise in value. In addition, the C7 Fine/Very Fine condition of this Lobby Card, particularly the main image which is better than a C7, would probably be hard to find, or find at a reasonable price.
