Description: Graflex Speed Graphic 4x5 Large Format Press Camera + Graflok Back + Accessory Lot WWII HISTORY. PLEASE READ. I received this camera from the original owner. His name is Edward Parr from Baltimore, Maryland. He is a WWII US Navy Veteran. I had a wonderful conversation with him when I purchased the camera. He used this camera to take aerial photos during WWII. He flew in a Lockheed P-2V Neptune; a maritime patrol and anti-submarine warfare (ASW) aircraft. While flying over the Atlantic towards the Arctic, Edward was photographing, chasing Russian submarines. He said he was also shooting Russian Fishing Trollers that were not actual fishing trollers. The nose of the aircraft was replaced with an acrylic body, and Edward said he would lay down in the nose and shoot photos. The aerial photography he said was all classified and belongs to the US Navy. Edward and his lovely wife actively live in North Georgia now. He hand made the wooden case for all the Graflex photo gear. It was so awesome meeting him today Oct 3 2024. This camera outfit comes with everything you see. The Graflex 4X5 Speed Graphic camera is in excellent condition. Comes with Braflok Back with ground glass intact. Lens is clear and the shutter working. It has a focal plane shutter that is also in working order. I’m able to wind it smoothly, and push the side button and hear and see it move well. All exterior leather is in good condition. This is a fine camera. The Graflex 3 cell flash unit is in good condition. Shows some wear. Sixe very clean film holders are included as well as a Graphic Film Pack Adapter. The cool thing is that also included are two heavy duty Grafmatic Film Holders are included. They are heavy adn might have film in them. Not sure I didn't open them. Other items are: Tripod (like new) in brown leather case, A flash item with Graflex clamps attached, shutter release cable, Six connecting flash cables, camera filters, extra brackets, two lens brushes, light heater, flashbulbs, Polaroid back, and a few other items. Lots of stuff! Inside this case were these 4”PROTEK” bags that keep items dry. I will not be shipping them. WOODEN CASE NOT INCLUDED IN SHIPPING(UNLESS YOU WANT TO)Lets talk about the handmade wooden case. It is large and extremely heavy. It is not included in the shipping price. I feel its too heavy and cumbersome to ship. But if you want the wooden case Mr. Edward Parr made (he told me so), I will need an additional $50 to ship it. So that will be $80 total to ship everything with the case. Otherwise its only $30 to ship all the items in the auction. This is a fantastic opportunity to get a historical Graflex used in WWII.
