Description: OWN SOME FUN CHICAGO CULINARY HISTORY!!!SET OF 4 PLATES While dining at the legendary GORDON restaurant in Chicago in 1997, we had dessert on these plates. I loved the funny "story" spiraling around the plate and talked them into selling me these four plates - from their regularly used inventory. The spiraled story celebrates their 21st anniversary with their GORDON logo set on the numbers "21" - all in gold print - and rather discreetly says: "AT 21 - YOU CAN LEGALLY DRINK - RENT A CAR - RENT A HOTEL ROOM - AND BUY CIGARETTES - MOST LIKELY YOU'VE ALREADY LOST YOUR VIRGINITY - VOTED FOR A CORRUPT POLITICIAN - AVOIDED THE DRAFT - OBTAINED YOUR DRIVER'S LICENSE - AND GOTTEN A TATTOO - GORDON HAS DONE ALL THIS AND MORE - EXCEPT THE TATTOO".They also have a gold rim on the edge. There is wear to the writing on each plate - but is legible. No chips or cracks to the porcelainPlates measure 8 1/8" diameter. HISTORY OF GORDON RESTAURANT:Opened by Gordon Sinclair in 1976 on N Clark St in Chicago - a rundown area at that time. It was known for its (salacious) artwork in the restrooms - banned cell phones - flourless chocolate cake and artichoke fritters. "Gordon raised the standard for Chicago dining and became a showcase of contemporary American cuisine." USPS Ground Advantage Shipping - $10.00 I ship only to US addresses - no international.
