Description: About the item Title: Skull on Black with DiamondsSize: 17" x 22"Edition: 2/2, 0 Artists ProofCertificate of Authenticity: Included Skull on Black with Diamonds is a striking fine art print that explores themes of luxury, mortality, and the ephemeral nature of material wealth. The piece features a gold-hued skull against a rich black background, adorned with sparkling diamond-like elements that punctuate the composition. The contrast of opulence and decay invites viewers to reflect on the impermanence of life and the superficial allure of wealth. Printed on premium Hahnemuhle fine art paper with archival ink, this work emphasizes the fragility of human existence while celebrating the allure of iconic symbols. As a limited edition print, with only two copies in existence, it is a rare and provocative addition to any contemporary art collection. About the body of work: Intended Consequences Geana’s work delves into the intricate relationships between money, power, and fragility through the lens of iconic symbols, reinterpreted using a process he terms “re-photography.” This technique involves capturing an image, transforming it through various organic manipulations, and then photographing it again, creating multi-layered narratives that challenge the viewer's perceptions. Exploring themes of luxury and decadence, Geana presents objects such as a one hundred dollar bill, a bank receipt, forged currency, imitation diamonds, a human skull, a gold-plated gun, shackles, a pitchfork, and phallic objects crafted by the artist. These are set against images of young, unclad men and women with faces deliberately obscured or fragmented. This anonymity reduces the subjects to mere symbols, reinforcing a broader commentary on value, identity, and the constructs we attach to them. The exhibition, first shown in 2015 at the Leslie-Lohman Project Space in SoHo, featured an immersive audio installation in the hallway, enveloping visitors in a relentless stream of media buzzwords voiced by the artist. This cacophony created a disorienting backdrop that mirrored the superficiality and noise of contemporary discourse. Geana’s sculptures and photographs stood amidst this soundscape as tangible yet hollow representations of societal constructs — provocative commentaries on the emptiness of the symbols we often revere. In a final, provocative gesture, unsold works were destroyed at the close of the exhibition, underscoring the idea that their only true value lay in the transaction — the conversion of the false into a means for growth. Geana's body of work invites viewers to confront the fragile and often illusory nature of wealth and power, challenging them to question what, if anything, is truly real — unless we collectively agree on the construct and make it real by agreement. Following this debut solo show, the artist documented the Pines on Fire Island and created a best-selling book of the community. A select few prints from the original series remained untouched; however, all editions are now closed, with no further works to be printed or created. This intentional limitation allows the body of work to explore themes of art investment and the increase in value through scarcity and the act of destruction. The prints available through LightPaper are the only ones offered from this series, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity to reflect the exclusivity and highly limited nature of the work. Each piece not only represents a moment in Geana’s artistic journey but also serves as a commentary on the transformation of value in the art market. Explaining our return policy The artist's work has often been reproduced without authorization, and prints have frequently been stolen. To combat theft, each print is registered to a buyer and a certificate of authentication is issued by the artist's studio. We can't accept returns because once the work has been shipped, we can't monitor if a copy has been made and returned, unless the forgery enters the secondary market. This policy is to protect the investment of both past and future collectors. For that reason, we can't accept returns, but all prints are packed with the utmost care and sent with a tracking number.
