Description: The CHALLANGER TI By GIGAND KNIVES Truly a masterpiece of the cutler's art. Designed by Dr. Fred Carter, the CHALLENGER TI is a serious contender in the ever-expanding world of high-tech folding knives. The 3 1/4-inch blade is made of ATS-34 stainless steel; vacuum heat treated to an RC-59-60 with a deep hollow grind and is available with either a half-serrated or plain edge. The smooth flowing lines of the CHALLENGER TI 's frame are made of die-cast aluminum, an expensive process that insures perfectly uniform pieces. The frame is then plated with a coating of TITANIUM CARBONITRIDE, a super hard industrial finish used on machine tools to prevent wear. A convenient stainless steel belt/boot hook is provided with the CHALLENGER TI. The spring lock of the CHALLENGER TI is held in a CNC machined recess in the aluminum frame, while some would call this a "liner lock", it is not really as there is no liner. This reduces both the weight and thickness of the knife. The lock spring is made of 410 stainless steel and heat-treated to an RC-45. As in all of the Fred Carter/GIGAND high-tech folding knives, the CHALLENGER TI has a fully adjustable pivot of a unique design. The blade rides on special nickel alloy bearings that allow for super smooth, one hand opening and closing. The CHALLENGER TI weighs in at 3.8 oz's and is 7 3/4" opened and 4 5/8" closed and is about 1/2" thick without the belt clip. The CHALLENGER TI is assembled using all stainless steel hardware. Very nice well made knife with Outstanding quality materials!!!
