Description: Please visit our eBay store for a complete list of in-stock Civil War relics organized by recovery location. We are working as partners in conjunction with Gettysburg Relics to offer some very nice American Civil War relics for sale. The owner of Gettysburg Relics was the proprietor of Artifact at 777 on Cemetery Hill in Gettysburg for a number of years, and we are now selling on eBay. THE BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA ~ A RARE SITE ~ SOUTH MOUNTAIN FARM ~ NEAR CASHTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA ~ THE CONFEDERATE APPROACH TO THE BATTLE ~ This post-Civil War relic is actually a WWI to WWII relic US Army button that was recovered on the South Mountain Farm outside of Gettysburg on the Confederate approach to the battle near Cashtown. A US Great Seal button General Service 1902-present: (enlisted men and officers) Great Seal of the US. Two-piece button. This one is 20mm and made by one of the several Attleboro MA manufacturers which made WWI as well as WWII buttons so it could really be from either period. It is probably an unusual find for the area, as one can imagine. This artifact was recovered many years ago on South Mountain Farm which sits on the Cashtown Pike about one mile east of Cashtown. This area apparently saw heavy activity from the Confederates as they approached Gettysburg. It was relic hunted for many years and produced numerous Confederate plates and buttons. This comes from a relic hunter who was among the first (if not the first) to hunt there. The farm is protected now, so no more relic hunting can occur. The second photo shows an image we took of the Farm at the beginning of the Summer. A provenance letter will be included. We include as much documentation with the relics as we possess. This includes copies of tags if there are original identification tags or maps, as well as a signed letter of provenance with the specific recovery information. All of the collections that we are offering for sale are guaranteed to be authentic and are either older recoveries, found before the 1960s when it was still legal to metal detect battlefields, or were recovered on private property with permission. Land on Battlefields that is now Federally owned, or owned by the Trust, was acquired after the relics were recovered. We will not buy or sell any items that were recovered illegally, nor will we sell any items that we suspect were recovered illegally. Thank you for viewing!
