Description: This is a rare single page advertising handbill (flyer) promoting the three-week, Pre-Broadway engagement of the NOEL COWARD series of plays, "TONIGHT AT EIGHT-THIRTY" at the Biltmore Theatre in Los Angeles, California beginning January 26th, 1948. (The revival would open February 20th, 1948 at the National Theatre in New York City and run for only 26 performances.) ..... A cycle of ten one-act plays by NOEL COWARD, the plays were performed in various combinations of three at each performance. The plays chosen were announced in advance and starred GERTRUDE LAWRENCE and featured GRAHAM PAYN, PHILIP TONGE, VALERIE COSSART, NORAH HOWARD, SARAH BURTON, BOOTH COLMAN, WILLIAM ROERICK and RHODERICK WALKER ..... This single page, two-sided handbill measures 5 7/8" X 9" inches and includes a beautiful rendering of GERTRUDE LAWRENCE painted by CECIL BEATON on the front and production credits, partial cast list, promotional text, performance schedule and ticket prices on the backside ..... CONDITION: With the exception of a fold across the middle and light surface rubbing on the backside, this rare handbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
