Description: The Observer's Badge (Beobachterabzeichen) is an Imperial German badge awarded to qualified aerial observers during WWI. The Kingdom of Bavaria instituted the badge in March, 1914. The award of the badge required training and was carefully monitored.The original badges could be private-purchased in silver form. This full-size replica is made of antique silver-tone metal. The flag figure in the center of the badge is enamel. It measures 64mm high by 42mm across and weighs 50 grams (1.8 oz.)
