Description: This is my grandfather's Gerber MkII. He purchased this from the Army PX. He passed away before I was born and left it to my dad, who then passed away and left it to me. I have no one to leave it to, so here is your opportunity to own one! From the manufacturing number, this knife was made in 1970 of L6 steel; it comes with the original scabbard, with leather thong, in the original box in which it was shipped. I can't confirm the sharpening steel is the original, but it is a Gerber sharpening stone that fits the scabbard; I believe it is original to the knife. The blade is inscribed with my grandfather's name and social security number, and is in great condition! I only ship to the 48 contiguous US states and only accept Paypal for payment. EDIT: A collector contacted me and offered some more info about this knife I thought I'd share: The sheath is an earlier year than the knife, most likely late '67 or early '68. My grandfather may have replaced it at some point, I'm not sure. The steel is most likely early to mid '70s, but definitely later than '72, per the larger print logo. I believe it was a different steel in my dad's knife stuff I put in the sheath to go with it at some point, but it was too long ago for me to remember. The collector suggested the name and SSN was most likely factory engraved using acid etching. The collector also suggested adding some more info about my grandfather's service: He was active National Guard, and was Command Sergeant Major of the National Guard Armory in Marshall, Texas. I don't know much more about his service, he passed away before I was born. Thanks for looking!
