Description: A circa 1800 sterling silver English lorgnette that folds and pivots into a mother of pearl case with a ring for hanging, weighing .72 troy ounce gross and measuring 3 1/4 inches from outside edges of the extended frame and 1 inch diameter glass lenses and the case measures 2 1/4 inches across by 1 1/8 inch, marked on the bridge with the English hallmarks: Georgian duty mark, the anchor for Birmingham, partial date letter (O or o?), and lion passant for sterling and stretched maker mark. The frame is heavily tarnished, the mother of pearl cracked at one pivot point and chipped on the other side, otherwise in good antique condition.
