Description: The item for sale is a hand colored drawing that was created by the American artist George Russin during the mid to late twentieth century. The subject is a reclining woman with an elaborate head piece in a parlor. The work bear many similarities to a limited edition print with an edition of 225 referred to as "Reclining Woman" or "Old Movie Star" published around the same time. This related drawing has a different face on the woman particularly the eyes and above the forehead. Her legs are stacked upon each other and her feet touch the end of the couch. In the print one leg is bent more than the other and the feet do not touch the end. Above the legs there is a table with two portraits in the drawing. The print does not have a table and slightly different portraits. There are other differences in the drawing that can be seen comparing auction images with this listing. The drawing has many more colors and details in the objects on the table and elsewhere. The drawing is signed in ink in the lower left whereas the print is signed in pencil in the lower right and numbered in the lower left. This drawing is perhaps unique and certainly not from the numbered edition although related to it. On May 4, 2012 RoGallery had a watercolor of the print image for sale as lot 92 with an ink signature in the lower left. That image was probably used to make the numbered prints. Again, the item for sale is a similar but not identical image in many respects. The condition of the drawing is essentially pristine. The artwork is exceptionally clean. The colors appear to have their original intensity. The framing materials appear to be new and archival. The frame is in excellent condition with no scratches nor finish loss. The mat window size 18" x 22.5". The total size is 30" x 34". Local pick up is available on this item in addition to Fedex or other shipping. The pickup location is a Safe Transfer Zone at the Abington Township Municipal Building located at 1176 Old York Rd, Abington, PA 19001.
