Taken from the caretaker's cottage, view shows, left, this the replica of the world's first well drilled for oil, which struck petroleum on August 27, 1859, at a depth of 69 feet. In the center is a native stone marker which stood on the exact site until it was moved to make room for the replica. On theright is a corner of the museum and library which is fast becoming a national depository for the historical records of the petroleum industry.
