Keep the scoop contained within the magnetic holder attached safely to the side of your Opal 2 ice maker. Bottom half has extra strong magnets to keep the holder in place. Top half magnets just strong enough to keep the lid closed when not in use. Flip the lid open, get some ice, return the scoop, flip lid closed. Grates in the bottom let any moisture still on the scoop dry out from underneath.
