Gary Sheffield 2009 Game Used Worn NY Mets Blue Batting Helmet W/ MLB Hologram

Description: For sale is an authentic size 7 3/8 Gary Sheffield 2009 game used New York Mets blue batting helmet. Gary wore this helmet on August 19, 2009 (the last year of his career) in a home game against the Atlanta Braves. Gary played left field and went 0 for 3 in this game. In the front of the middle of the helmet is the New York Mets “NY” in orange. On the front of the bill of the helmet is a label saying “SHEFFIELD”. On the bottom of the back of the helmet is the MLB logo. Underneath the logo is again a label saying “SHEFFIELD”. There are some deep scratches on the top of the helmet showing the helmet was probably used more than the one game for which it was certified. Inside the helmet is all the required padding, however, the fabric on the padding is peeling off on some parts of the padding. Also inside the left side of the helmet is a size “7 3/8” sticker. On the back of the helmet next to the MLB logo is the MLB hologram with the certification number LH649682. A look up of this certification number on the MLB Authentication website shows a description of Sheffield Game Used Batting Helmet ATL at NYM August 19, 2009. I have included a screen shot of this description of the certification number from the MLB Authentication Website in my pictures. Gary Sheffield was a 9 time All Star and a 5 time Silver Slugger Award winner during his 22 year MLB career. He is a World Series Champion and led the National League in hitting in 1992. Sheffield hit 509 homers, drove in 1,676 runs and hit .292 during his career. In addition to the Mets, Gary played for the Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres, Florida Marlins, Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers.
