Reilly, Jim Broadbent, Brendan GleesonRun Time:2 hour and 46 minutesAmsterdam Vallon (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a young Irish immigrant released from prison. He returns to the Five Points seeking revenge against his father's killer, William Cutting (Daniel Day-Lewis), a powerful anti-immigrant gang leader. He knows that revenge can only be attained by infiltrating Cutting's inner circle. Amsterdam's journey becomes a fight for personal survival and to find a place for the Irish people in 1860's New York. Sprawling, brawling historical saga from director Martin Scorsese is set in the racially divided and strife-torn Five Points neighborhood of 1860s Manhattan. Young Irish-American Amsterdam Vallon (Leonardo DiCaprio) works his way into the confidence of anti-immigrant gang leader Bill "The Butcher" Cutting (Daniel Day-Lewis)-who killed Vallon's father 20 years earlier-in order to gain revenge. Cameron Diaz, Liam Neeson, Henry Thomas, and Jim Broadbent also star. 167 min. Kill The Irishman chronicles Greene’s heroic rise from a tough Cleveland neighborhood to become an enforcer in the local mob. Turning the tables on loan shark Shondor Birns (Christopher Walken) and allying himself with gangster John Nardi (Vincent D’Onofrio), Greene stops taking orders from the Mafia and pursues his own power. Surviving countless assassination attempts from the mob and killing off anyone who went after him in retaliation, Danny Greene’s infamous invincibility and notorious fearlessness eventually led to the collapse of mafia syndicates across the U.S. and also earned him the status of the man the mob couldn’t kill.Written and directed by Jonathan Hensleigh and also starring Val Kilmer, Paul Sorvino and Linda Cardellini, Kill the Irishman is inspired by Rick Porrello s true crime account To Kill the Irishman: The War That Crippled the Mafia. SPECIAL FEATURES: Danny Greene: The Rise and Fall of the Irishman Documentary (SD, 1 hr) - Provided in standard definition with Dolby Digital stereo sound and no subtitle options, this documentary on the real life events that inspired the movie, might actually be a bit more interesting than the film itself. Interviews with government agents, retired gangsters, and Greene's family and friends are intercut with archive footage taking us through Greene's life and eventual death. The adaptation seems to follow the real events pretty closely but it's interesting to see the areas that they decided to veer from. Much is made of the fact that Greene's death actually set off a domino effect that helped put an end to organized crime in the area. This doc does provide a more effective look at the man than the main feature does.Trailer (HD) - The movie's trailer is provided in 1080p.++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ~ I Am Always Open To Offers ~ (I try very hard to list my items honestly but sometimes I miss something.
