Description: This limited edition When Bankers Wore Boots limited print by G. Harvey is a rare find for any art collector. Numbered 949 of 1000, this lithograph depicts cowboys in the American West in the crowd on a rain and snow soaked dirt street in the upcoming big town of Houston with remaining traits of the Old West. The time period is the turn of the century. The heavy rains and snow that year put a halt to almost everything except the burgeoning new oil industry which needed the BANKS. The ranchers way of life had to work together with the new oil operations. Many were unwilling to change and moved further West. Others enjoyed seeing the new century and just refused to change themselves. Banks had become critical for commerce in small towns and larger cities across America. The artist has included the warm lights of early kerosene lanterns. Note that the Cowboys are still riding horses or horse drawn wagons. The Bankers have become the "middle men" between Ranchers and powerful oil companies now have to work and travel along with the new trolley cars and bicycles in town. A bit of sophistication has come to the wild west The framed print height is 32" long an 23" in width. The oil industry is growing fast and is very powerful. Banking controls the money! Signed by the artist himself, this print is a true representation of his unique style of communicating the Americana/Old West at the change of the 20th century. The certificate of authenticity was issued by Texas Art Press and adds to the value of this piece and insures originality. This selected piece is one of the more collectible G. Harvey pieces and depicts the resiliency of the Old West ranchers/cowboys learning to work with banks and their commitment to their work. This print is a must-have for any art enthusiast or fan of the Old West. Seller is an Ebay member since 1999 and has 100% positive feedback rating.
