Description: Handmade Lampwork beads are made one at a time by heating a cane or rod of glass over a flame torch and then applying the molten glass around a mandrel. The bead is held over the flame while it is worked on and cooled slowly to strengthen the glass. It takes a lot of skill to keep the bead from losing its shape and the adding of other colors in swirls or flowers demands much concentration. In this set the Center Bead (8 x 13mm) and 4 of the other larger rondelles (2 x 12mm & 9 x 10mm) have a pattern mimicking alligator skin.
