Although, on the outskirts of the Gamma Draconis System, your most feared nemesis has returned and they are wondering what happened to their scouting party...You must now ready yourself for a new and more aggressive swarm of enemy forces that are not very pleased about your resistance. Over 20 new weapons will help you disrupt, destroy and intercept this increased enemy threat. Also, many new enemy devices will be encountered such as large beam weapons that can cut a large Capital Ship in two. You'll need your weapons though, as over 70 new ships are present in the game and they are much bigger and badder than before. Once you've completed the tutorial, go try your luck on the campaign that features 30 new missions that will challenge you like never before. Missions range from hit & run operations to large scale assaults, where you can command up to 11 squadmates in unison.Freespace 2 also includes the "FRED 2" mission editor feature, where you'll be able to edit your own single-player and multi-player missions so that they are as intense or varied as you see fit. Speaking of multi-player, there is an extensive multi-player mode, where up to 9 people can go up against each other in teams or straight out for the crown of being the best Internet player.
