Patented Jan. 8, 1883. cloth stockinette, needle-sculpted AND/OR COMPRESSED features (which makes each doll look and age differently!) these dolls look similar to the j b sheppard philadelphia baby, BUT ARE NOT made by same artist, and wellington dolls are rarely found as very very few were ever made. THE WELLINGTON BABY IS VERY RARE! thick oil-painted head with painted lower limbs, eyes with molded upper lid, overbite dimple under lip, fold in back of neck, nice large pronounced shapely ears, short light brown hair, cupped hands with delineated fingers, two distinctive bottom buns in rear area, AND !!!!! Again, this doll has NOT been repainted! This has been priced more than generous and extremely fair. There is heavy flaking and crackling of the oil paint and head splits front and back. Again, i can see NO repaint on head and face. second skin has damage and holes. There is NO odd stitching to indicate any replacement limb parts, and her beautiful body and limb paint has even patina as expected with play and wear and tear, for its 138 year age. yes, doll is bruised BUT NOT NOT NOT repainted, AND still has original tag, even though it’s damaged and wounded. study all the photos......if you can love this doll AS IS, THEN THIS IS A BARGAIN FOR YOU!!
