Washington: The Life and the Legacy traces Washington and the founding of Tuskegee Institute which was established to educate newly freed people after the Civil War. It recreates vignettes and interviews with contemporaries including W.E.B. Du Bois. Running time 31:30 The Maggie Lena Walker Story captures the spirit of a woman who became a prominent civic leader, financier, and business woman during the early twentieth century. Original photographs and quotations from her writings reveal the depth of her commitment to the social, economic, and cultural needs of African Americans.
