Description: This is the first version of the Harvey Company’s postcard of the interior of this property, pre-dating colorized versions. The newly constructed Escalante opened on March 1, 1907, and this card is postmarked October 16, 1907. It is from a brother at Ash Fork to his younger sister at the Castañeda, Harvey's first trackside hotel, built in Las Vegas, New Mexico in 1898. It is addressed to "Las Vegas c/o Fred Harvey," and was cancelled at both Ash Fork and Las Vegas. Condition: Overall good. The scans represent the condition well. There is slight edge and corner wear, and slight spotting to the surface. There is a soft crease in the upper left corner, but it is flat and not weakened. I do not accept returns. I provide clear photos and descriptions so condition is well established. See my feedback for the accuracy of my descriptions over 25 years of selling.
