Francis Ford Coppola Autograph Signed Check Apocalypse Now *Hollywood Posters*

Description: This auction is for a check made out to Francis Ford Coppola and it is signed and endorsed by him on the reverse side. He is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter. He is considered one of the major figures of the New Hollywood filmmaking movement of the 1960s and 1970s. He is the recipient of five Academy Awards, six Golden Globe Awards, two Palmes d'Or, and a British Academy Film Award. Coppola's career began in Hollywood in the 1960's but he became a household name with the release of the film The Godfather in 1972. Some of his other memorable films are Apocalypse Now, The Outsiders, The Conversation, The Godfather part 2 and 3, The Cotton Club and Peggy Sue Got Married. This check is from October 28, 1966 which would have been the time period he directed You're a Big Boy Now produced by Warner Brothers - Seven Arts. I acquired this check in the early 1980's. In Los Angeles, the Warner Brothers Studios did a house cleaning and a ton of paper was discarded from all the production companies housed on their lot. I had an acquaintance who owned a company that recylced paper and other products and he had the Warner Brothers contract. I went to his warehouse and he had picked up thousands of cancelled checks from the 1940's through the 1970's to be thrown away. There were literally rows of them in long check boxes. I spent the day going through boxes and bought about 50 of them. I have a few left that I am putting in my ebay store for sale today.
