Description: Auction description France ca. 1890: Fishing in the Mountains, Delightful Watercolor, Listed Artist Here's a really fine watercolor, from the hand of a gifted, listed artist, Richard Barabandy (1849-1915). We're in the mountains, perhaps Italian or Swiss, on the shores of a clear and lovely lake. At the water's edge, the tiny figures of a fisherman and his friend. So refreshing! Dimensions, including the (probably original) mat are about 11.75 inches by 15.25 inches. Both the mat and the picture's paper support have toned somewhat, and I see a little spotting. Condition is otherwise quite good. Lower left, the artist has signed and dedicated his picture (in French) to a countess. Another watercolor by Barabandy sold for $350 at a 2020 French auction. This is a highly appealing work, offering a lot of pleasure to the eye and the spirit! I'm starting it off at a modest price point. Shipping within the U.S. will be $14.
