Description: Rare original botanical prints from Indigenous Flowers of the Hawaiian Islands. These watercolor chromolithograph prints were painted and described by Isabella Sinclair (Mrs. Frances Sinclair, Jr.) and bound into a book in 1885. The book contained 44 plates. Isabella was a Scottish born botanist and illustrator. She painted these beautiful studies of native flora, and researched information about them from native Hawaiians in the mid nineteenth century. According to Abe Books, "Published in the form of a typical Victorian 'floral album,' Isabella Sinclair's series of watercolours was by far the most luxurious guide to Hawaiian flora to have been published up to that time"This particular print is framed, and will be shipped boxed.Because of the age of the print, some of the prints will have slight marks or edge issues (always shown in the photos) but nothing to interfere with the subtle beauty of these watercolor pieces. This print was framed, so does not show any edge issues, but I cannot be sure because the frame was professionally made.Photos of the original book and title page are shown for authenticity, this listing includes only the single watercolor print framed. The size of the print is 10.5" x 14.5"The size of the frame is 12" x 16"I've included a closeup of the frame corner to show the detailing.Nohuanu
