The only issues with this recorder are, some screws are missing from the bottom drive cover plate, as shown in photo, and you have to push the screen adjustment knob down to see what's on the screen, so I broke a toothpick off in it to hold it down and you can still adjust it, but everything else works fine. The only difference between the VF80 and the VF80EX is the color....The VF80 is blue and the VF80EX is silver.... Owner's manual can be downloaded for free online... Has a HUGE 20 GB internal hard drive (about 8 hours of recording time for 8 tracks)... It does not have an on-board CD-RW DRIVE, but one can be added... Easy to learn how to operate... And if you add a CD-RW Drive,you can mix and burn straight to CD...And also, you can transfer wav files to PC and mix the song with yourfavorite recording software...There are many free programs and effect plug-insonline...Reaper, Audacity, ETC...------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Here's a GREAT way to use this recorder for (full production) numerous tracks...1. Record 7 tracks on tracks 1 through 7...2. Save each track as raw wav files to cd...3. Load them into your pc DAW program, (example, Reaper, Pro Tools...ETC...)...4. Do a Temporary stereo mix and burn that file to an audio cd...5. Load that cd track back to the VF80EX to stereo tracks 1 and 2...6. Exchange tracks 1 and 2 with tracks 7 and 8...6. Record 6 more tracks on tracks 1 through 6 and save those 6 tracks as wav files to cd and load them to your DAW...7.
