Here is a genuine fossil from the world-famous fossil beds of Fossil Lake, Green River Formation, Wyoming. From the Eocene, 52 million years ago. It is a very nice fossil winged seed (also called winged fruit). The species, Ailanthus confucii, has the seed in the middle of this characteristeristically shaped leaf. The leaf is about 33 mm. in length, with no paint or restoration added. The plate it is naturally on is about 2.3" by 2.1", and it weighs 2.3 oz.
