Here is a superb toe bone from an Edmontosaurus, a Hadrosaur dinosaur from the Cretaceous, 74 to 66 million years ago, the last age of the Dinosaurs. It is from the Hell Creek Formation in western South Dakota. It is in remarkable condition (photos), measuring about 2.26 inches and weighing 1.3 oz. (excluding the stand). This is one single piece, not multiple pieces glued together. No paint or restoration has been used. The Hadrosaurs are also known as duck-billed dinosaurs, because of the shape of their heads. They were herbivores. The Edmontosaurus is the most famous of the hadrosaurs. Many years ago, they were referred to as Trachodon, but that name is no longer widely used.
