Fort Bend County Texas SHERIFF Elect GUS GEORGE TWO Campaign Items VINTAGE 1984

The aforementioned notwithstanding, note the photos and video when appropriate are still the biggest and most important part of this or any description. For your consideration is this set of (2) two EXTREMELY RARE, vintage 1984, new old stock, NEVER PEELED, ELECTION campaign sticker and a PHOTO campaign information card promoting GUS GEORGE for SHERIFF of FORT BEND COUNTY TX SHERIFFS OFFICE. I seriously doubt you will ever find and/or see another example of either one of these pieces again.Gus George won the election and was sworn into office on January 1, 1985 and served until his death in 1989. Gus George was a prominent figure in Texas Law Enforcement and served with the Harris County Texas Sheriff's Office for many years before ascending to the rank of Chief Deputy under then Sheriff Jack Heard. George retired from Harris County to launch his campaign to become the Sheriff of Fort Bend County. In his honor, the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office named their new Law Enforcement Academy in his honor and it still bears his name today. NOTE; THESE ITEMS ARE NEW OLD STOCK AND HAVE NEVER ACTUALLY BEEN USED FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN DISPLAY. THE STICKER HAS NEVER BEEN PEELED. I CHOSE TO BE CONSERVATIVE AND LIST THE TWO PIECES AS BEING “USED” ONLY BECAUSE OF THEIR AGE AND THE FACT THE PIECES SHOW AGE AND MINOR SURFACE BLEMISHES FROM HANDLING. The campaign sticker is NEW OLD STOCK (NOS) and has NEVER BEEN PEELED. It is made of white vinyl with red and blue colored graphics. The sticker features the campaign message “ELECT GUS GEORGE SHERIFF” across the front. The photo campaign card is printed on both the front and back. The front of the card features a photographic image of the late Sheriff Gus George on the left side with the words “ELECT GUS GEORGE SHERIFF” to the right. Immediately below is a small image of the red GOP elephant logo followed by the words “REPUBLICAN PRIMARY 1984”. The card also highlights (4) four of Gus George’s attributes that include “32 Years in Law Enforcement”, “Experienced Administrator”, “Integrity” and “Community Oriented”. The back of the card features a campaign promise to the citizens of Fort Bend County, Texas whereby GUS GEORGE states as follows below. “As your sheriff my first responsibility will be to keep up with the growth of our county. I’ll serve you as you have every right to expect”. GUS GEORGE Republican Candidate For Sheriff of Fort Bend County The sticker measures approximately 12.0" in length by 4.0" in width and remains to be in very good condition for being nearly 40 years old. The photo campaign card is made out of a heavy cardstock and measures approximately 4.25” long by 2.50” wide. Refer to description photos #15, #16, #17 and #18 to confirm the size of both the bumper sticker and the photo campaign card and more details about what I have described. Both these campaign items remain in very good to excellent condition considering they are nearly 40 years old. Both pieces show honest age and have surface blemishes from handling and storage but neither has any damage such as tears and/or repairs. The sticker and the card individually are extremely scarce pieces by themselves; I doubt you’ll ever find much less see another example of either piece. But together, these two pieces are even more desirable and rare given not many survived after the campaign. I am certain any Fort Bend County Texas historian or Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office memorabilia collector would appreciate acquiring these interesting pieces of history for their collections and/or display.
