Small boat that made for short shaft outboard engine equipped with a long shaft engine which results in not optimal performance and handling. This jack plate is designed to firmly attach to the transom and provides a higher mounting position for the engine. Benefits Improves performance and handling of smaller or lighter boats. Width of transom mounting flanges is 17". Max weight capacity: 150 lbs. How To Install Jack Plate for Outboard Motors? Step 1Place the Jack Plate in the center of transom. Clamp Jack Plate in place and drill six holes. Using six bolts (minimun size of 3/8”) mount jack plate to transom. Use washers, lock-nuts and protective sealant around bolts. Tighten all bolts then remove clamps.Step 2Mount engine to Jack Plate. Make sure that the wooden block is inside Jack Plate. Tighten engine mounts securely. Drill two holes in the bottom of engine bracket and bolt bracket to jack plate with bolts, washers and locknuts. Be sure to bolt through wooden block.
