Description: This listing is for a 1940s era whimsey featuring a chair in a glass bottle. The chair is hand carved of wood with peg joints and tapered legs and back. It has a woven red, white and blue seat made of string. There are three rungs on the back of the chair and rails between each of the feet and some of the rails are decorated with red and blue accents. There is a hand carved wooden trick plug shaped like a crossbar making it impossible to remove the plug. It is from Matt's Ice Cream Parlor that was in Elk City, Oklahoma and was made by Roscoe C. Axton (1885-1957) also of Elk City but it is not signed. There is a label from the parlor inside the bottle that says " Matt's Ice Cream Parlor We Freeze Our Own Ice Cream-Wholesale or Retail Matt Warren MGR Elk City Okla Phone 715." The glass bottle measures 8" tall and appears to be a Karo syrup bottle. The condition is good. There are no breaks or damage on the chair or the bottle. The label is slightly yellowed.
