Description: Flying Fortress /Boeing B-17G/WWII Bomber-Fighter Plane Description: Greetings and Welcome For your consideration, from my personal collection, I am offering an original, authentic, 1985 lithograph of the Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress, probably, the most famous American bomber of WWII. A four-engine strategic heavy bomber aircraft developed for the United States Army Air Corps, it was a potent, high-flying, long-range bomber capable of unleashing great destruction, defend itself, and return home despite extensive battle damage. The B-17 initially lacked sufficient anti-fighter defenses, but after enhancements, it became known as the "Fortress" because of its great survivability. It was noted for its ability to absorb battle damage, still reach its target, and bring its crew home safely. Being equipped with thirteen machine-guns, allowed the B-17s to defend themselves, especially, when flying in "box" formation. This durability, together with the large operational numbers in the Eighth Air Force, and the fame achieved by the "Memphis Belle" made the B-17 a significant bomber aircraft of the war. The lithograph was published by Air Age Publishing in 1985. The image is meticulously and expertly taken from an outstanding photograph by nationally recognized aviator, Budd Davisson. The pictured aircraft is owned by the Confederate Air Force. This authentic "first-run" color art lithograph was printed from the original plates in 1985 on the highest quality paper. The piece has never been matted, framed, hung nor displayed, but has been properly stored and undisturbed since creation. The lithograph which you are considering is in near mint/mint condition, clean, untouched and suitable for framing. The dimension of the image is 17.5" x 13". The dimension of the finished lithograph is 20" x 16". The lithographic workmanship in this creation is detailed and extraordinary. The colors are robust, vivid and vibrant. This would be an exciting addition for any aviation enthusiast or collector of amazing vintage aircraft. Payment, Shipping, Return & Customer Service Policies Check out my other items!
