The specimen fluoresces green under short wave U.V. This specimen was mined and collected by Frank Perham. Frank Perham was a legendary miner, mineral collector and dealer and friend of many mineral collectors in the State of Maine. Frank was born on March 5, 1934 and died on January 31, 2023. As a child Frank helped his dad Stanley run the family mineral store called Perham’s Maine Mineral Store in West Paris, Maine. Frank mined numerous mines in Oxford County such as : Tamminen, Waisinen, Harvard and Hayes Mines. Frank was hired by the Plumbago Mining Corp to be their geologist while mining the Big Find of Tourmaline in Newry, Maine in the 1970’s. Frank’s nickname was ‘The Pocket Fairy’ because he seemed to be around when someone discovered a new mineral pocket.
