Floyd B Stubbs Information: Born in Acme, Texas on George Washington's birthday in 1924. At the age of two, Floyd moved with his family to Abilene, Texas. He was fascinated with art and drawing at a very young age. In July 1947, after serving his country in the South Pacific theatre during World War II, he went to work in the West Texas oil fields. That same year, Floyd first saw his drawing in print. His safety posters provided solutions to dangerous situations that occur on and around drilling rigs, and they were published in oil industry magazines mailed to subscribers around the world. In 1976, Floyd left the oil fields to concentrate on his artwork full time. Although he continued to provide oilfield safety posters, his artistic interests turned toward his personal expression and away from the commercial aspect of the profession. His interests included antique oilfield equipment and vintage steam equipment, including farm, railroad, and construction, mostly within a landscape setting. Drawing from his wartime experience and association with Dyess AFB later in life, he drew vintage military aircraft through those currently on active duty. Being a history buff Floyd also took on the subject of The Battle of the Little Big Horn including Col. George A. Custer and many of those involved both United States Calvary and Native Americans. Of the 33 drawings Floyd created from the Little Big Horn, a collector from the North East purchased all 33 images for her collection. Unfortunately Floyd B. Stubbs passed in December 2003. Any original artwork of Floyd's purchased on eBay will be accompanied by a COA (Certificate of Authenticity), signed and authenticated by his son, Floyd A. Stubbs, who has been assigned and approved by the Floyd B. Stubbs Estate to make his artwork publicly available. Floyd's artistic portfolio includes, among other items, his prolific collection of pen and ink drawings, wood carvings and a few pieces of "tramp" art. Please search eBay for "Floyd B. Stubbs Vintage Prints," as those words will be included in each posting title. If you're familiar with Floyd's artwork and/or you know others who may be interested, please pass along this information. A variety of his art will be posted on a regular basis. Thank you.
