Description: Apollo 11 affixed 6 mm x 8 mm segment of Kapton gold foil is an actual piece of the Apollo 11’s Command Module CM-107 Columbia which flew the first manned lunar landing mission from July 16-24, 1969. It is displayed in 3D frame, golden engraved plate inserted in 3D frame. Size of the frame is 230 mm x 180 mm x 25 mm. Golden metal plate with engraving of image of Armstrong and Aldrin on the Moon, and text. The photo can't do justice to this beautiful display. This is part of a thermal protection subsystem that was recovered from the Command Module after splashdown. The gold side of this foil has been affixed to an acrylic square in preparation for presentation. The flown segment is from collection of the retired NASA employee William R. Whipkey. The buyer will receive the letter of authenticity based on note of Mr. Whipkey confirmed the status of this artifact, we will provide you with the copy of Mr. Whipkey note as well.
