Description: This is a lovely and Fine Antique Old 19th c. French Impressionist Winter Landscape Oil Painting on canvas, by early 20th century French Impressionist painter, Geo Lefebvre (1876 - 1953.) Unfortunately, there is very little biographical information on this talented painter, but perhaps you know more about him or his work? This piece depicts the plein air image of a snowcapped rural village landscape scene, depicting an old cathedral, surrounding buildings, and barren trees. Lefebvre's subject matter, pigment use, heavy brush strokes, and style is reminiscent of the early founders of 19th century French Impressionist art movement. Signed: "G. Lefebvre" in the lower right corner. Approximately 18 1/2 x 22 1/2 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 15 1/2 x 19 1/2 inches. Very good condition for over a century of age, with some mild pressure marks to the canvas along the edges, and some age-related darkening to the painted surface (please see photos.) Acquired in Los Angeles County, California. If you like what you see, I encourage you to make an Offer. Please check out my other listings for more wonderful and unique artworks!
