Description: This is an authentic prehistoric bowl. Absolutely pecked, ground and polished. Wonderful mineral deposits and ground staining. I do not know the period as stone bowls were made in the Archaic period, and continued after pottery became prevalent. I have a collection of ceremonial stone bowls from the Mississippian Culture . I say this was ceremonial as it is finely made out of beautiful quartzite that has beautiful sparkle through entire piece. Very large at 9 1/4" diameter at rim, base is 5" diameter. Height is about 2" and it is about 1 5/8" deep. About 1/2" thick.
