Ebert has devoted his life to studying the oceans most elusive and fascinating predator-the shark. His adventurous global search for "lost sharks" has taken him to over 35 countries and has resulted in the discovery of more than 50 new shark species. He is the author of over 30 books, including the bestselling Sharks of the World (Princeton). A popular television guest, Ebert has appeared on the BBC, National Geographic and the Discovery Channel. He is director of the Pacific Shark Research Center, scientific advisor to the United Nations, a member of the Executive Committee of the IUCN Shark Specialist Group and honorary research associate at the California Academy of Sciences and the South African Institute for Aquatic Biodiversity. He is also a former president of the American Elasmobranch Society. Marc Dando is a scientific illustrator with an honors degree in zoology. Combining his love for art and the natural world, especially sharks, Dando has emerged as one of the worlds leading shark illustrators.
