Fender Malibu MID 1960's 1965 Acoustic Guitar

INC Anaheim California” Includes: Guitar Only I purchased this guitar heavily used from a music store in Hawaii, I had planned to restore it but never got around to it. I now want to give this to a luthier who wants a great restoration project. These are highly underrated American made vintage acoustics with a Strat like neck that feels amazing.This is a genuine Roger Rossmeisl flattop acoustic guitar from 1965. Leo Fender, in the early1960’s, commissioned Roger (who formally worked for Rickenbacker) to start a line of acoustic flat top guitars for Fender. This guitar needs a bit of work to get it playing. It has had quite a bit of play in the past and the frets could use some work. The neck looks straight to my eyes. I have never strung this guitar. One tuning key is broken at the top and might need to be replaced. The bottom Strat pin needs to be glued in. A former owner installed a pickup, controls and input jack but then removed them and put in plugs. There is a crack in the body front going down the binding by the bottom strap button. Also there is a break that is poorly patched up on the back body and side. Overall there are a lot of marks and scratches throughout on this piece of history but most importantly, the guitar appears to be structurally sound. The guitar appears to be all original besides the Hawaii stickers. This guitar has a slim neck that feels not like any acoustic guitar and it feels in your hands like an electric guitar. This is how Leo wanted these guitars to be built. This features a nice solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides. Sold as is. Rossmeisl set about work immediately, and Fender’s first acoustic guitars — the King, Concert, Classic and short-lived Folk — debuted in summer 1963. They were attractive flat-top instruments with electric guitar features such as bolt-on necks, Stratocaster-style headstocks and screwed-on pickguards. The mid-1960s positively abounded with Fender acoustic guitar models. The Malibu and Newporter models were introduced in April 1965, followed that July by two 12-string models.
