FENDER 1966 Mustang Dakota Red [SN 141964] 1966 Fender Mustang Dakota Red is in stock! Fender's student model Mustang was introduced in 1965. Short scale 22 frets with the most effective dynamic vibrato in Fender's history. Each pickup has an on/off switch instead of a selector. Phase out is also possible, giving you a wide variety of sound output. Neck Date: 16JAN66B, POT DATE304-6618 x 2. This is a cool 1966 model in original Dakota Red color. The serial number is 141964. Capacitor, on/off and pickguard are also original. The dynamic vibrato (original) is before the patent number was stamped. The F-key pegs are also original with the shaft visible through the cover. The decal on the head is from the 8th period, which was used in late '66." The OFFSET decal was discontinued in late '66, and the dynamic vibrato on the bridge was also stamped with a patent number, so this is a rare example of a transitional period spec. The neck pocket has shims glued to it. Shims are glued to the neck pocket. Gray bobbin pickups (with 66 notation), POT, capacitor, switch, etc. are also original. The case is the original case of the period, and the original arm is included. There are some scratches and dents commensurate with its age, but it is in relatively good condition.
