It is from the Greek/Latin word, sagena, which means "net". The word later evolved to mean any number of inclusions in quartz or agate where the inclusions form a lattice, or have acicular crystal clusters, or fibrous structure. Especially the words "sagenite agate" and also even refers to plume agates with a fibrous look to some of the color bands. The "sagenite agate" has since become highly sought after.This particular variety of sagenite agate has thousands of tiny tufts of acicular fibrous crystals. Some people say that in this particular variety, the inclusions are in fact rutile, but I have serious doubts about that (even though many of them do have a metallic sheen).
