Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Here we have a stunning, very rare and highly collectable stag dating from the early 1800s. The stag is reclining and alertly looking straight ahead. The Rockingham glaze was lightly applied with the yellow color of the clay showing through the majestic animal. This was made in the Staffordshire district in England. The stag measures 5 ½” in height by 5 ½” in length. The figure is hollow and open to the bottom. The antlers, nose and ears were often damaged on these stags, but not on this one, it’s in perfect condition. These are rarely found in any condition and are highly desired and collectable. Similar stags are shown in Lisa McAllister’s Collector’s Guide to Yellow Ware Book III on pages 68 and 71.
