Description: Exceptionally Fine Zuni Rosita Wallace Butterfly Pin Mosaic Inlay mid-Century Sterling Silver PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE PURCHASING An exceptionally beautiful butterfly pin made with exquisitely fine mosaic inlay, the best I've ever seen by Rosita Wallace, who was one of the most exceptionally fine Zuni silversmiths. One unique feature of this butterfly pin is that it is made with three colors rather than the traditional four, which pulls it into the Pueblo Deco experience. The stones are exceptional in that the mother of pearl is so luminescent, to be opalescent, and perhaps one should call it a form of abalone. There is also jet and natural blue turquoise. The colorations are hypnotic and wonderful. Also wonderful and rare to her work is the gorgeous stamp work used on this piece, which I haven't seen on any of her other pieces. Everything about this is top notch and rare. The dimensions are 1" high and 1" wide. The weight is 9.9 grams. It is unsigned and not marked for silver content, which is usual for those times. I tested and it is sterling silver at .925. The condition is excellent vintage, wearable and collectible.Thereis minor age related wear. May have few scratches on butterfly.
