Description: We've been collecting for a combined total of 65 years and dealing for half that long, but have never seen another example of this rare and precious WW1 French medal (try a "visual search" - you won't find a match). The obverse shows the French Victory leading her determined troops into battle carrying flag and sword. "Le Jour de La Victoire" arches over the top and the French rooster brings up the front (on the lower right). Just spectacular! The reverse shows the skyline of Reims across the bottom with the great Reims Cathedral rising above all. It is afire, and the flames reach all the way to the top of the coin. A work of art in medal! This infamous attack inspired the French to stand firm against German aggression and ultimately prevail in spite of terrible losses.
