Hes written extensively on wildlife and animals, including a 2009 cover story in Smithsonian magazine on wildlife trafficking in Latin America. He has a weak spot for the southern hemisphere, has completed two Fulbright fellowships in Latin America, and has led six classes on study tours of Antarctica.
