European full round wood molding plane or sill drip plane added fence Ward iron

Description: You are bidding on one European tiny full round wood molding plane with an ugly added fence as pictured.The plane is not marked. The iron is marked "WARD" in the bordered stamp, which is unusual. David Ward is listed in the book British Planemakers 3rd Edition as making irons in Sheffield, England, from 1824 to 1859. Overall length of the body is about 9-13/16".The style of the plane, with the groove running the length of the right side, suggests that it is perhaps German or Dutch in origin. The wedge looks sort-of European, but without any finial shape to give another clue. The body of the plane is actually two pieces (the plane was made that way), with a thin strip on the upper right a separate piece that allowed the wedge slot to be easily cut. It appears to be quite old.The profile is a small full round. The fence has been added to the plane in several full-length pieces, and it appears to be glued onto the plane, which is why I didn't try to remove the fence. It reminds me of a sill drip plane, which could be fenced. Condition other than the fence is fair to good, with lots of stains, and it would benefit from a cleaning. The throat has been opened up as shown, and there are lots of dings and chips and scratches in the wood. The top of the wedge has a few chips, and again it doesn't have a shaped finial. The iron has some rust. The profile is reasonably straight if you sight down it. The iron and wedge both appear to be original to the plane. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it's not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20" long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30" long, because those longer packages won't fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, eBay requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including eBay. If I ship to a state where eBay is required to collect sales tax, eBay will charge you the sales tax for your location.
