Autograph Letter signed: "Ernst Fuchs", 1 page, 7½10. One West 67th Street [New York City], 1924 November 23. To Mrs. J. M. Wainwright, Scranton, Pennsylvania, in full: "Many thanks for your kind note. I am afraid I shall not be able to take the time to get off this year. I am, besides my regular work, busily occupied with a book of memories which will appear sometime in February. It throws a great amount of additional work upon all. With kind remembrances to Dr. Wainwright and with renewed thanks for your great consideration, I am sincerely yours". Accompanied by original mailing envelope addressed in Fuchs's hand. Austrian ophthalmologist Ernst Fuchs (1851-1930) was a clinical practitioner, teacher and researcher who made many groundbreaking discoveries about the anatomy of the eye and treatment of ocular diseases. When he wrote this letter, Fuchs was on his third visit to the United States, part of a world tour during which he received many honors and awards. Envelope: Soiled. Stained. Lightly toned. Edges and corners worn. Letter: Normal mailing folds. Corners lightly worn. Soiled on bottom and edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
