Description: Eric Davis #5 1992 NewSport French Magazine card Item is Near Mint or better The NAMED player ONLY. From a series of 32 baseball players. Size is approximately 3-7/8" x 5-3/4". While these are unnumbered, as usual, numbers has been assigned alphabetically by Beckett. But currently the Beckett Guides misidentify the set as complete at 30 cards. For some reason their checklist doesn't include Cecil Fielder and Kirby Puckett. So starting with #8 Fielder, the numbers I use don't match up with the Beckett numbers. In the Beckett Almanac the set (of 30) is listed at $300.00 with some stars at $20.00 and more including Ripken and Ryan listed at $50.00. This European only issue was discovered by a veteran hobby dealer (JJ) during an annual visit to France in the early 1990's. Released over a period of months as inserts in an English titled publication called NewSport. But, in fact, these attractive glossy photos have only French text. Each 'card' has the month of publication printed near the border edge, such as 'Novembre 1991' and 'Mai 1992'. MLB and NewSport logos are on the front with full statistics and additional player info on back (if you can read French, of course). There were also NBA and NFL NewSport issues in the early 1990's.
